I'd be curious to know if that juvenile Red Tailed Hawk was still hungry afterwards? Not only do these hawks catch mice, but rats, chipmunks, squirrels and rabbits are on the menu too! There’s way more small mammals they catch also. A hungry hawk could probably eat 3 mice in a day! Consistency is key. I’d say if you had the opportunity to see this hawk again, do the same thing. Then do the same thing the 3rd time, 10th time and 50th time. As long as the hawk keeps doing it with no difficulty, your bond with the hawk will grow. But, because this is a juvenile, it is unlikely it will continue to visit you. It will end when the hawk migrates before the Winter season to seek a mate so that they can build a nest one day. But I'm sure it will make you happy that this hawk is a fit and healthy hawk and has feathers that work efficiently due to all the nutrients of red meat that the mouse provides.
